A Winning Strategy?

For nearly as long as the 48 Hour Film Project has been in the Bay Area, the talented folks from the filmmaking team It Donned On Me have been submitting memorable entries. Sometimes inspiring, sometimes hilarious, and always charming.

In 2011 for the 48 Go Green competition in San Francisco, these filmmakers turned in their take on what would happen if you mashed Family Guy with The Office and turned it into a 7 minute short made in just one weekend.

This film took home an acting award, just another in an impressive string of them for this intrepid team. They’ll be competing this year again in the 11th San Francisco 48 Hour Film Project. You can be on hand to see what they create by attending the premiere screenings between June 5-13 at the Clay Theater.

The Virtue of Healthy Eating

We’ve seen a number of remarkable entries in the San Francisco 48 Hour Film Project from the folks at Chinese Takeout. After their audience favorite in 2010 (Okiku) and their city-winning entry in 2011 (How the Spot Was Won), they had rendered themselves a tough act to follow.

We were pleased to see them meet the challenge by turning in this story as their competition entry for 2012. We invite you to enjoy Organique.

Chinese Takeout returns to the competition for the 2013 season and you can be there to see what they create this year.

The Sole of Mystery

One of the toughest genres to handle believably in a 48 Hour Film is that of the cop drama. The veteran players at Barewitness Films didn’t flinch when they drew this challenge. They just circled the troops and brought us this hilarious story.

This film was an entry in the 10th San Francisco 48 Hour Film Project and it was nominated as an award finalist in several categories, declared the winner for Best Use of Required Line.

A Father’s Wisdom

One certain winning formula is the story of a father and his attempt to share wisdom with his son.

The veteran filmmakers from San Fiasco brought home awards with this charming coming of age tale

During the 2012 San Francisco 48 Hour Film Project, this entry brought home top honors for acting and screenplay. We saw an earlier award-winning entry from this team in the San Jose event.

You can see what this year’s competitors produce in the competition (set to kick off on Friday, May 30th). The premiere screenings will take place between June 5th and 13th. It’s the 11th year in San Francisco for the time-based filmmaking competition and it’s sure to be entertaining with all of the returning players.

What Matters in Business

As we can see in this delightful film from Roth Rind Media Production, the winning edge comes from a good attitude and a competitive spirit. We invite you to enjoy “The Stand Off.”

This story was an entry in the 2012 San Francisco 48 Hour Film Project. The charismatic young Kai Burich took home the Rising Star Award for his performance as a future retail magnate.

Roth Rind will compete again this summer in the 2013 event, set to kick off next Friday, May 30th.

…we realized lately that this was the first time we remember seeing Erik Braa in one of the 48 Hour Film Project gems. But what really caught our attention about this morality tale is the deftness of the writing.
