Behind the Drunk Dialing

Of course you’ve never done it, but sometimes people drink a little too much and make a call late at night to tell someone how they really feel. (Hint Alert!) It’s usually a bad idea.

What we can learn from this charming song is: If you do choose to engage in a little drunk dialing or a bit of smashed snapchatting, try not to leave a trace.

It’s possible that we actually know who this guy is. But we’re party to a non-disclosure agreement that prevents us from revealing our suspicions.

Perpetually Skeptical

It’s cool to be skeptical. When you turn out to be right, everyone thinks about how smart you are. And if you turn out to be wrong, the worst that happens is that you get to say, “Well I’ll be! Who would have believed that?!”

Ukrainian engineer, Valeriy Ivanov released nearly 100 videos like this one on YouTube to demonstrate scientific principles he hopes kids will find engaging and that will inspire them to learn more.

What actually happened, is that he mobilized a veritable army in the YouTube peanut gallery to give voice to their opinions about how he created the magic. Set aside your own doubts for just a moment and take a look at one example of perpetual magic.

Somewhere, there is an aging purple Smurf™ who’s lamenting, “It’ll never work!” But the bumblebee and Valeriy aren’t interested in that. They’re just out to do their work.

Working for the Lunch Hour

Some days in the office, the best you can hope is just get to the next break. Anyone who’s ever worked in a call center will feel this next film touch a nerve.

This film from Once Upon a Thyme Productions fared well in the awards race for the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project during 2013. This year the team is in the hunt for awards again.

Their newest film will screen on Sunday, Sep 20th at the Camera Cinema in downtown San Jose.  The show starts at 4:30 and you can get Tickets Here.

When it comes to the kitchen, safety is Rule #1. And when it comes to safety, listening to your wife is Rule #1.

This short film came from Ovation Pictures, whose latest work will show and be considered for Awards in the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project on Sunday.

Christmas Needs a Lot of Saving

Everybody knows about Little Cindy Lou Who, but do you know about someone else who saved Christmas?

For your consideration, we present one Zachary Alexander – an unlikely hero who carries the weight of an entire holiday on the brim of his hard hat.

Beyond Forever Studios, the team that made this film will be in the house on Sunday when the latest crop of Award nominees from the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project are screened.

Nearly a dozen great short films from San Jose will screen, and awards will be announced for the 2015 season. It’s Sunday, Sept 20 at 4:30pm and you can be there if you get tickets here.

We’ve lost count of how many gems the filmmaking team Film Antics has produced in time-based film competitions

They’ve brought home awards for Cinematography, Acting, and have finished as City Winner or runner up on multiple occasions. This entry brought them the prize for Best Comedy.
